Our presence is not seasonal. We invest in countries, build local teams, and maintain long-term relationships with clients who value consistency and deep understanding of local operating conditions.

    Presence

    Deep roots in African markets

We maintain permanent operations in 6 African countries, with a track record spanning 12 countries across the continent. Each location has local management, local crews, and established supply chains. This isn't a network of contractors — it's MDI, operating as one company.

Our clients benefit from consistent standards, predictable performance, and teams that understand the specific challenges of drilling in each region.

    People

    Local employment and skills development

We hire locally and build local teams. Our African workforce is not supplementary to imported expertise — it is the core of our operations. This commitment shapes how we recruit, how we train, and how we structure career advancement.

Structured training programmes develop drilling professionals from entry-level positions through to senior operational roles. Career advancement is real and visible.

MDI sees itself as a steward of drilling capability in the regions where it operates.

    Safety

    Safety through training and systems

Safety at MDI is achieved through competence and supervision, not compliance paperwork. Every crew member receives structured safety training before they work on site. Supervision is consistent and present. When technology can reduce human error or physical risk, we deploy it.

    Environment

    Environmental control and site discipline

Our MRU mud recycling units reduce waste and water consumption. Disciplined site management practices prevent contamination before it occurs. Site rehabilitation is part of project delivery, not an afterthought — we plan for closure from the beginning.

    Community

    Community engagement

Our long-term presence means long-term relationships with the communities where we operate. Employment and training are our primary contribution — when local people see their neighbours building careers with MDI, we become a known quantity, not an external presence.

    Governance

    Standards and discipline

Strong internal governance underpins everything we do. When Tier-1 clients conduct due diligence, they find an organisation that has thought carefully about how it operates and built systems to support responsible execution. This is about how we actually work, every day, on every site.

    Responsibility enables performance

Responsible operations lead to safer sites, more reliable delivery, and stronger long-term outcomes. The discipline required to operate responsibly is the same discipline that delivers projects on time and to specification.
